NOW Consulting and WhereScape take part in the Dual off road run and mountain bike event
18 mountain bikers, 2 half marathon runners, 3 10k runners/walkers, 2 triathletes and only one crash! The WhereScape and NOW teams combined for an en-mass entry to this year’s Dual event, a multi-event sports day to raise funds for the Rangitoto and Motutapu conservation project. The aim of the project is to create a kiwi sanctuary on the two islands by removing all pests and cultivating enough forest to support the kiwis.
Everyone had an awesome day, even our crash victim, who luckily escaped without injury (which is lucky as it happened at high speed, racing down the slopes of Rangitoto – scoria hurts).
Special mentions for the day go to; Jason Laws, who came third in the 26km mountain bike event and…well, everyone who took part. It’s a really tough event with lots of hills and tough terrain, so just taking part deserves a mention.
To the gentleman who crashed at the start of the 42km mountain bike ride, who broke his collarbone in 3 places, and still managed to finish only a few minutes behind some of the top riders in the field – our hats go off to you – that was a demonstration in grit and determination.
