Having studied business & management at University, Jimmy cut his teeth working in sales and marketing roles in the UK for Oracle & Fujitsu.  When Jimmy returned to New Zealand he went looking for a new challenge and within two months was working for NOW Consulting and learning about the fast paced and always interesting world of data & analytics.

Tell us a bit about your background.

Originally from Wellington, I spent most of my youth living in the UK and then Brazil before returning to New Zealand at the tender age of 33.  I’m still (and will always be) a Hurricanes fan, despite leaving Wellington at the age of 7!

How did you get into BI/Data?

I suppose I’m really a marketeer working in a BI/data company rather than a person working in BI/data.  My background is in marketing and selling IT hardware for the likes of Sun Microsystems, Oracle and Fujitsu but when I came back to New Zealand I decided it was time for a change.  I looked for a company with a really great culture, found NOW and haven’t looked back since.

What’s your most memorable WhereScape/NOW moment?

There are quite a few to choose from. I think it would be either winning the NZTE International Business Award or my first company annual party at Man of War.

What do you do outside of the office?

I enjoy surfing, running, yoga and a good movie.  I’m also a big rugby fan, but these days it’s strictly from the armchair.

Give us a fun fact about yourself.

I spent two years backpacking around the world on my way back to New Zealand.  I pretty much blew my savings doing it but I loved every moment and consider it the best investment I ever made.
